Here is some additional information about Hot Yoga you may find interesting...

The Studio offers two types of yoga: Hot Yoga, which is a Sequence of 26 postures and two breathing exercises from Hatha Yoga, selected and developed by Bikram Choudhury. Practiced worldwide, the Sequence has been proved to systematically work every part of the body. Its scientifically based design makes possible for all the internal organs, veins, ligaments and muscles to receive everything they need to maintain optimum health and maximum function. How it works is that each posture takes care of something different in the body, and together in their sequence, the 26 postures work synergistically. That is, each posture contributes to the success of every other, extending and maximizing the benefits of all.

The Studio also offers Vinyasa Flow Yoga, which is practiced in a comfortably heated room. Each Vinyasa class is different; the sequences vary from class to class and challenge the habitual manner of practicing asanas. Practitioners learn to develop inner awareness and understanding of the poses beyond the movement of the physical body with respect to the asana’s technique and outline.

Both yoga methods greatly compliment each other. Both teach how to use the body and the mind to study the self while practicing, and how to alleviate the impact of daily-life stress. Through regular practice of hot yoga you will be able to change the construction of your body from inside out. To change your body, you need to warm and soften your body so it is flexible and malleable. This is why the yoga room is heated. In the heat you can optimally do your postures, open up and reshape your body any way you want, and sweat impurities out through the skin.

The yoga and the heat work together to flush away waste products and toxins of every organ, tissue and cell in your body. The practice provides a natural irrigation of the body through the circulatory system with the help of the respiratory system. This process brings nourishments to every cell of your body so that each one can perform its function and keep your body healthy. This includes increasing your supply of oxygen and learning how to use that oxygen properly. Proper breathing contributes to a healthy respiratory system and to calming the nervous system, easing mental and emotional stress.

Regular practice of hot yoga leads to the development of a balanced healthy body and a balanced stress-free mind. You will improve your concentration, focus, clarity of thinking, and confidence. You will have greater awareness of your body’s sensations and how to keep your body, as well as your mind, healthy and active.

At the Setauket Studio you practice under the guidance of certified yoga teachers only. Everyone of any age, with or without prior experience of yoga or physical training is welcome!

Enjoy Hot Yoga, heal, feel better, grow, love life and celebrate you!
